THE CEDARS OF LEBANON FOLKLORIC GROUP
OBJECTIVES OF THE GROUP

1. The Cedars of Lebanon Folkloric Group aims to unite the Young Lebanese people in Australia, teaching the younger generation about their heritage and to also keep the Lebanese culture alive in Australia.

2. The Group will initially teach Lebanese Folklore, presenting it in its original form, namely known as the Lebanese Dabki. They will also focus on the Sword and Shield games, called the Law, as well as theatrical sketches and the presentation of plays of all kinds. This is being done with the intention to raise Lebanese awareness in foreign lands, and to show the Lebanese expatriates what is happening in our homeland, Lebanon, on the cultural level.

3. As time progresses, the group will try and establish its own club sports centre, to teach a variety of sports to the Lebanese people who require it.

4. The purchase of a house or land in the group’s name, to raise a modern Lebanese club in the name of the group.

5. To Carry out folkloric activities in all Australian States if the need arises.

6. To organise trips abroad and attend to functions in foreign countries as well as in our motherland, Lebanon.

7. Attempt to produce and present a group show on Australian radio.

8. Endeavour to contract some Restaurant stage work to put on Lebanese Folkloric shows (Dabki and acting) every week.

9. Endeavour to organise meetings to show other nationalities what Lebanon is like. Show films about Lebanon at the Cinema, on television, as well as at schools. The aim is to publicise the name of Lebanon, our motherland everywhere, and raise awareness to other nationals.

10. Finally, whenever the need and the opportunity arises, the group would like to send aid to the motherland Lebanon, and its inhabitants, who are our people, as circumstances dictate. The group would also like to provide support to Australia and its people. This should take advantage of all means of the group’s disposal, as well as those available to the group’s sympathisers.
